malware bytes is can be downloaded into a USB drive and then installed on the infected computer. This is the safest way. Just make sure to update the definitions first.

Lavasoft can be installed in safe mode. So, this is a great tool if the spyware has taken over your registry..LOL..always happens right..

Microsoft defender is bundled with Microsoft Window Vista. It does a pretty good job but doesn't catch all the bugs like Malware bytes does...
